Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

...He'd better start Epona off slowly.

"Alright, c'mon girl." His feet hit Epona's flank and off they go at a trot but yeah oh no Epona is moving oh nooooo.

It is soon apparent that Link's current idea of "holding on" is insufficient, and that he must find a more secure means of "holding on".

This of course means adopting the more reasonable position of curling his arms around the other Link's waist and leaning in closer and

generally trying to let go of the pendulum that swings between falling asleep and acute nausea.

But it's like his hands are tied to that thing.

"You alright back there?"

Of course not.

He's going to take that silence as a "No" and slows Epona down to below a trot, just calmly walking along.

"Better?"

"mmmrrggg"

Okay, that didn't sound good at all and he stops Epona completely, waiting for the other Link to calm down and also hopefully not throw up.

He doesn't.

It takes a moment, but he keeps it all in.

"H-how soon until we get to this Castle Town?"

...Looks at the castle in the distance. Hmmm.

"...If I go as fast as possible, less than five minutes."

HOW ADVENTUROUS ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?

Link purses his lips, tightens his grip around Ordon just a bit, and mutters, "Do it."

Very adventurous, it seems.

"Alright!" Now there's someone who's acting more like his ancestor. He gets Epona going again and THERE THEY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooo.

By the time they reach Castle Town, Link of Skyloft's skin is a pleasant shade of white, and Link of Ordon's ribs may have just narrowly escaped being cracked.

Skyloft, holding his head in one hand, reminds himself that these are not the good old days of lazing about town without a hint of excitement. He also reminds himself that whatever discomfort and nausea he feels now will soon go away--though this does little to alleviate the situation at present.

Just. Damn. Is it too much to ask for a vacation to be a vacation and not a--

Oh, well. He's the one who agreed to this, so there's no use complaining.

Okay! That wasn't so bad, right?

...Right? Haha...ah.

To his credit, he waits until Skyloft is less wobbly before dismounting and then offers a hand to help him down instead of just picking him up again.

The gesture is greatly appreciated!

Once he's on his feet, he makes a light attempt at a laugh and says, "I think...I'd get use to that, after a while."

"Right? I told you." Really, that's all it takes when it comes to something like horses and you haven't had a chance to ever get used to them, yet.

Anyway, the Castle Town sounds pretty bustling today, as usual. Also Skyloft may notice that it gets its name from being a town...connected to the castle.

Amazing.

Yes, seeing as how that crystal is awfully huge now. It's caught his attention again.

"Isn't your Zelda...?"

[cant_be_tamed]

"Hmm?" What a weird way to say that. "His" Zelda. Like, he gets what he's asking, but it feels really weird to say that about somebody who was technically supposed to be his Queen by now. And besides...

Link's shadow moves juuuust a little. Yeah, he knows, Midna. Don't say anything dumb. Don't mention what happened to the princess. Gosh, he'd probably flip his lid if he knew all the details.

"She's not in the castle, don't worry." Well...he's right about that.

"Oh."

He has more questions, but he figures they should start heading into town.

Oh good, crisis averted.

"Well, come on. Might as well tell you what's up with the castle."

Link frowns, and remains silent some time after his...after the other Link finishes.

It's not that he doesn't know what to say, it's that he doesn't know if he should say it.

Or offer it, as it were.

Granted, he doesn't sound too beat up about the whole thing, as he's been handling getting rid of the twilight areas just fine. If he sounded mad during spots in the conversation, it was how this was screwing with everyone else.

"...Hah, don't worry. I can finish this." And really, it sounds like he means it. After all, he's used to having a lot of responsibilities already! This is just another one and, besides, it's not like getting those other shards would be really hard, right?

"Alright," he says with a laugh. It was a silly thought, anyway.

Nah, probably not silly. Especially considering he's probably going to help found Hyrule...or he already did...but he will in his future, maybe, and...

Man, screw this weird time non-sense, it's giving him a headache.

"C'mon." AND THEN THEY ENTERED TOWN AND wow it's pretty crowded.

Somehow he's not as surprised or as awed as he thought he'd be.

Sure, it's narrow, and there are more people, compared to Skyloft, and it's a lot less...colorful...and yet...

He's curious.

Well it's kinda narrow, sure, but narrow streets will happen with all these buildings and people and...

...There is a dog following Ordon.

...Assuming Skyloft knows what a dog is.
