Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

Stop. MAKING THAT FACE-UGH. FINE. Ordon sighs and reaches into his wallet.

"Fine, pick whatever you want."

Because if he had to choose himself, they'd be stuck here aaaaaaaaaall day.

Link starts to lol.

Ordon looks at him like he doesn't know what he's laughing about because...he doesn't.

i mean first of all by the looks of that wallet skyloft thinks he has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more money than ordon but

"I'm not...I wasn't...I'm fine, really!"

He'll just...put his money back, then. He still manages to laugh it off though.

"Hah, sorry. I was just wondering...I mean, I figured people up there would probably have gardens or something, but what about...oh! What about cuccos?"

There you go, those are birds and they'd be easier to keep around than goats.

Oh for Din's sake. He takes a deeeeeep breath and tries to figure out how to better phrase this.

"Things that aren't Loftwings that're bred for poultry or egg-laying."

There is a Moment of Silence that transpires between Ordon's statement and Skyloft's response. Skyloft might look a tad bit peeved.

"So birds, then."

Wow he is just really getting tired of people treating him like he's dumb and weird just because he lives in a culture that is vastly different from most others'!

"A, uh...type of bird, yeah. They're the ones that're usually on farms..."

Yeah, he uh....picked up on that tone...too. Ahahaha. Uh.

"...Sorry. They're just everywhere so I said the name without thinking, hah."

He lets out a sigh.

"It's okay."

He then takes a keen interest in a nearby apple.

Which, by the way. He knows what apples are.

He'd be surprised if you didn't, honestly. And thankfully, he's not explaining what apples are, either. Just...silence. Until...

"...Hey." A beat.

"Wanna see more animals kinda like that dog?" Because oh man.

Has he got a surprise for you.

He nods and grabs Skyloft by the arm again, leading him down the eastern street until they get to a series of houses. There's meowing in the distance and it gets closer until a black and white cat runs into the street, coming right up to Ordon as if they were friends.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WHAT IS THAT IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE A REMLIT AND KIND OF SORT OF LOOKS LIKE ONE JUST WITH SMALLER EARS AND A LESS BUSHY TAIL AND OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OGM GOMG/!?!?!?!?!/1

Yeah Skyloft's over there standing as if he's seeing Zelda again after a long separation.

Ordon starts to head left, following the cat and if Skyloft follows, they'll come to this backyard and...

"They're cats." He crouches down to pet his cat friends. ALL OF HIS CAT FRIENDS.

"They're all hanging out here because they're waiting on their friend." Ordon jerks his head toward the door of the building they're next to.

Okay first of all, how would he know that and second...yeah really, how would he know that?

"...you can talk to them?"

Please be quick with your response good sir Link is just itching to pick up one of these cats.

"...Kiiiind of. Like, cats can't normally talk but uh."

He didn't.

Show Skyloft the Wolfy Thing.

"But what?" he says as he picks up the nearest nekkochan and stares lovingly into its eyes

...Let's be honest, this was probably going to happen sooner or later.

"So uh, remember that thing about twilight where people normally turn into spirits when they get stuck in it and how that didn't happen with me?"

Okay. How...to set this up as gently as possible before actually showing him... Because come on, there's no not-crazy way to say, "Sometimes I turn into a wolf," is there?

"Well, it...kinda did something with me, but I was still able to do stuff. It just..." Ahhhh, screw it. If there's anybody who'd take this relatively well, it'd be his ancestor...right?
