Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

SOON. Some of the cats bound over to the dog a few feet away, who just suddenly appeared.

......Dog.....?????????? Kinda like that dog from before except way.

Way. Way way way way bigger.

And also with familiar-looking earrings.

It takes a moment for Link to notice the dog, as the eyes of a nekkochan are hypnotic.

When he does notice the dog--well whatever it's a dog.

"...L-link? Where...? Where did he go?" he asks, looking all around.

The "dog" barks when his name is called.

Blink.

"Um. Link?" he calls out again.

He has a hunch, but.

Just to be sure.

He barks again before...what looks like rolling his eyes.

Man he warned you.

...Not specifically about this, but still. You were warned.

Oh good he didn't freak out, yay.

Also it was either this or trying to tell him about this which, really. Showing is better than telling.

Also some of the nekkochans are cat-piling him now because soft, fluffy and a good conversationalist, so he'll just step aside here and change back to a form he can actually talk in.

...And even then, still being cat-crowded, oops.

"So sometimes you're a dog," he says when Link returns to his human form.

"Wolf." There's a difference, you know. "And...yeah. Like..." That...demonstration wasn't because he couldn't explain it well, it's just...

"There's no real way to tell somebody that without sounding like a crazy person, you know?"

Guess who else knows about this who isn't Midna and/or Zelda?

Link chuckles.

"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me. Although..." He pauses, and lowers the cat onto the ground. "...I might ask you to do me a favor if I take you to my world."

"Oh?" Why no, he is totally not super excited about maybe going to Magical Sky Island.

"What's that?"

"You can talk to animals, right? So maybe you could...talk to my bird?"

Special deep magical bond and all, but he can't understand a word that thing squawks.

"Ahah, sure!" That actually sounds kind of cool.

"That whole place sounds really interesting. I mean, it's probably kinda mundane to you, but I'd love to see everything..."

...Which was probably why he was asking, "lol what kind of food do they have up there?" from before.

He rubs the back of his neck, grinning sheepishly. "It's okay. I'm...kind of used to it, actually. People being...interested in my world. At least. One guy..."

"Hmm?" He waits for Skyloft to continue while being surrounded with his army of nekkochans.

[sky_child]

"His name's Gorko. I run into him a lot. He's always doing some sort of research about stuff that relates to me. I just haven't told him that yet..."

"Ohh, sounds like a friend of mine."

...That uncomfortable moment when he remembers what Shad has been researching lately.

"...Fair warning, he'd probably spontaneously combust if he knew where you were from, so..." Yeah, he probably doesn't need to finish that sentence for Skyloft, does he?

"Wouldn't everyone?"

He realizes that this guy's probably a special case, but still. He's from the sky. That's not something you can just tell anyone.

"...Okay, yeah, but he's been looking into this 'Ancient Sky Civilization' for years, apparently."

...Ahhh, yes.

"...'ancient sky civilization'?"

"...Yeah. He'd flip his lid."

So either avoid the bar or pretend you're his cousin or something.

"What has he told you?"

"Uhh. Hold on..." He's trying to remember, give him a bit.

"Apparently, he learned that the people who lived there were...'beings closer to the gods than Hylians' and that these beings created Hylians in the first place."

...From Ordon's tone, he obviously knows that's probably not the case. Skyloft sounded like a regular town so far, just...in the sky.

Well considering that they're thousands of years into the future relative to his native time and that the Temple of Time symbol--one half a symbol quite familiar to him and another important to Hylia--is everywhere...
