Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

"How are we talking to each other, then?" Unless it's...just the writing that looks different?

"I think the writing is different..."

"Oh, so...just the writing? ...Weird."

Oh well, he shrugs it off and stretches a bit...

"Don't mind them, this is where they hang out all the time. See the guy in the helmet over there?"

"Yeah?"

"That's Rusl. His family took me in when I was little, says he found me wandering around Faron Woods one day." Which he...can't remember that much of, but anyway...

"He's pretty much my dad."

[sky_child]

"Mmm..."

Parents.

Yeah.

"...Ah. Sorry."

He just really loves Rusl lots and that tends to cause bragging to happen, oops.

"About what?"

[cant_be_tamed]

"Oh, uh...I dunno, you just seemed kind of out of it all of a sudden."

[sky_child]

He pokes at his food.

"Don't worry about it."

[cant_be_tamed]

He is going to worry about it because worrying is an integral part of his existence.

"...If you say so." But he's not dumb enough to push the subject, so he changes it instead.

"The guy over there in the glasses is Shad." You know.

That guy.

Peeering over--

"Mmm."

Link's expression is indescribable. He wouldn't be able to tell you what he's feeling, either. He's just wondering...is it worth it to go over there and interrogate that guy for everything he knows about Mystical Sky Land?

He glances at Shad, then back at Skyloft...

"What's up?"

[sky_child]

This is the Hylian your Hylian could be?

"Should I...talk to him?"

[cant_be_tamed]

"...If you want to? I'm not stopping you, but watch what you say around him."

[sky_child]

"I'll try to keep quiet."

And since this is a Link, chances are good that he will succeed at this!

He nods, apparently satisfied with this.

"Want me to introduce you, then?"

[sky_child]

"...sure."

[cant_be_tamed]

Alllllright, prepare yourself. He stands, stretches a little, then motions Skyloft over to the table, introducing him to the unimposing man in the glasses who's...actually rather quiet.

So this is the great sky scholar, eh?

...Link's not sure what to say, really.

"...s-so he says you're really into history?"

Shad brightens up immediately. Ahhh, there he goes.

"Well, bit of a understatement, but yes. My father used to work for the Royal Family, you see, so I grew up around it. You know, lately, I've been investigating the origins of the fabled sky city..."

Ordon is kind of slinking back and making an "oh boy here we go" face.

Link clears his throat. "The sky city, you say?" he asks. "That's interesting...how can a city be in the sky?"

He must not have cleared his throat very well, because somehow his voice is a bit deeper than normal. He also seems to be e n u n c i a t i n g the fuck out of everything he says.

Oh god now he's getting more excited.

"That's the thing if it, isn't it? Nobody quite knows how it happened, or how it's still up there, or even if it's still up there. I mean, it would be very difficult to get to, wouldn't it? So unfortunately, no one has been able to study...how that would work, exactly. But, there is evidence of its existence that dates back thousands of years!"

Link, meanwhile, is trying his very best not to get excited.

"So...do you know...anything about the people who lived there?"
