Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

...He's silent, as he thinks Skyloft probably doesn't need this explained to him.

It looks like he's figuring this out pretty quickly, in fact.

He's silent for a good, long moment, staring at the cat, seemingly frozen between action and inaction.

(He hopes, to whichever of the goddesses are listening, that the other Link doesn't notice that he's literally frozen in that moment.)

When he comes to, he clasps his shaking hands together and asks, "Does that mean she's safe?"

"...I think that's safe to assume, yeah."

"That's..." He closes his eyes, lets out a laugh. Smiles.

Then looks thoughtful, in a goofy happy sort of way. "But that means she gets married! I mean, if she's the ancestor of your royal family. I wonder who's the lucky guy..."

HMMM, I WONDER.

"Well, do you know if she likes anyone?"

Ahem.

"...I haven't asked her."

[cant_be_tamed]

Ahh, of course.

"Hey, if it's in the future, I guess you'll find out eventually."

If only Ordon knew the hints that Zelda dropped over and over and over again.

He wrinkles his nose. "I hope it's not Groose! I don't think she likes him anyway but...it's the future..."

"Heh." He has this knowing look on his face because...well. This is Skyloft and, even if he's never met this Zelda, it's pretty obvious how Skyloft feels about her. So.

Heh.

Of course it is very obvious he is full of platonic feelings for her and that's all there is to say about the matter

Pushing himself to his feet, "Should we go to that bar you talked about? Promise I won't tell that guy about Skyloft."

Yes, as soon as he gets all this cat hair off of his tunic.

"Sure, it'll be quieter there anyway."

[sky_child]

"But there won't be as many cats..."

And he sounds disappointed about that.

"Oh, Telma has one. Her name's Louise."

Literally the coolest cat you'll ever meet.

"Really?"

And this time it does sound like your average wistful Shortcake HONTOOO

"You know, these cats are a lot like remlits. More than the dogs. They even sound like remlits, too!"

"So they're pretty much like cats except they fly?"

Sounds legit.

[sky_child]

"Yeah. And they...but I'll figure that out later."

The whole rabid killing thing, you know

"Well yeah, and that..." But that's probably not normal, so whatever.

"I still think it'd be neat to see some." And really, it'd make sense for them to be able to fly, since...Sky Island.

[sky_child]

"I can see if I can..." He laughs. 'Arrange something', right. "Whenever we have time. We can go to Skyloft."

"Alright!" And for once, at least for the first time since Skyloft saw him, he actually looks like a normal teenager getting excited about something instead of a kind of stern Adult with Responsibilities or whatever.

It's probably the Remlits.

[sky_child]

He gives Ordon a sidelong look. "You might want to wear another hat, though. When we go to Skyloft. You'd look too much like a knight."

[cant_be_tamed]

That...does kinda make sense, and he wouldn't confuse any of Skyloft's friends. Maybe he could even find his regular clothes. But, uh...

"...Just the hat?" Because.

And Skyloft has obviously noticed this but.

The rest of what they're wearing now looks really similar too.

Yeah but it looks so run down and ragged and also he's got extra crap on him that Skyloft doesn't have. The gauntlet in particular.

"Well, you can wear your normal clothes if you want, but...it's colder up there than it is down here."

[cant_be_tamed]

"Ohhh." Yeah what he normally wore probably wouldn't fare too well, huh? "Yeah, these'll be fine." While the lull in the conversation starts, Ordon starts to think about what Skyloft is going to say at the bar.

"So...what're you gonna say if everyone in there asks about you?" For one, the "we're related" thing might not be a good idea, since Rusl might be in there and, well...

"Uh."

Uh.

"...what do you suggest?"

[cant_be_tamed]

"...Hmm." Thank the gods he asked before they actually went in.

"Not related. Rusl might be there and..." Um. "...He'd know about any blood relatives I'd have, put it that way." Which is to say, absolutely nobody that he'd know of.
