Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

Yes, seeing as how that crystal is awfully huge now. It's caught his attention again.

"Isn't your Zelda...?"

"Hmm?" What a weird way to say that. "His" Zelda. Like, he gets what he's asking, but it feels really weird to say that about somebody who was technically supposed to be his Queen by now. And besides...

Link's shadow moves juuuust a little. Yeah, he knows, Midna. Don't say anything dumb. Don't mention what happened to the princess. Gosh, he'd probably flip his lid if he knew all the details.

"She's not in the castle, don't worry." Well...he's right about that.

"Oh."

He has more questions, but he figures they should start heading into town.

Oh good, crisis averted.

"Well, come on. Might as well tell you what's up with the castle."

Link frowns, and remains silent some time after his...after the other Link finishes.

It's not that he doesn't know what to say, it's that he doesn't know if he should say it.

Or offer it, as it were.

Granted, he doesn't sound too beat up about the whole thing, as he's been handling getting rid of the twilight areas just fine. If he sounded mad during spots in the conversation, it was how this was screwing with everyone else.

"...Hah, don't worry. I can finish this." And really, it sounds like he means it. After all, he's used to having a lot of responsibilities already! This is just another one and, besides, it's not like getting those other shards would be really hard, right?

Nah, probably not silly. Especially considering he's probably going to help found Hyrule...or he already did...but he will in his future, maybe, and...

Man, screw this weird time non-sense, it's giving him a headache.

"C'mon." AND THEN THEY ENTERED TOWN AND wow it's pretty crowded.

Somehow he's not as surprised or as awed as he thought he'd be.

Sure, it's narrow, and there are more people, compared to Skyloft, and it's a lot less...colorful...and yet...

He's curious.

Well it's kinda narrow, sure, but narrow streets will happen with all these buildings and people and...

...There is a dog following Ordon.

...Assuming Skyloft knows what a dog is.

He doesn't.

But considering they're in a town and not an open field, Skyloft's first thought isn't to go on the defense. Especially not since the creature he spots first is so small, and, adorable...

He tugs on Ordon's sleeve.

"What's that?"

"Heh, he's a dog! Here boy." Come on, let's pick you up so Ancestor can take a good look.

The dog is pretty calm while he's being held

Very, very tentatively, he sticks out a hand towards the puppy.

And the puppy makes adorable puppy noises at the petting!!!

How can one animal be this kawaii??!!?!?!?

"They're pets. This one's name is Richard and he loves playing fetch. Don'tcha, boy?"

...Either

1) He already knows the names of the animals here or
2) He went out of his way to name them.

It's not really clear which would be weirder.

Man whatever, it's not like the dog cares, even though his legs are kinda flailing in the air but other than that he is pretty cool.

They are going to just be stuck in the street and side-tracked by the dog, aren't they?

Yeeeep.

Link puts the puppy down, though. It's awkward, holding an animal like that for a long period of time. Unless it's a remlit. It's always worth it for a remlit.

"You know, we only have one kind of pet in Skyloft."

"Yeah? What's that?" He said as the puppy trailed behind him while they walked.

"They're call remlits. They have these big, flappy ears they can fly with, like if you throw them in the water or over the side of Skyloft..."

Er.

"...sometimes you have to do that because they're wild at night. Like, they'll try to kill you."

Yeah his reaction wasn't going to be pretty if he didn't know that they could fly, but the last part...

Even if he's from a Magical Sky Island.

"I mean for animals in general. Being tame in the day and trying to kill people at night. Animals don't do that just because. You sure there isn't something that's making them act up at night?"
