Link Visiting Places: Twilight Princess Edition

Link is very confused.

Link--the other Link, perhaps better known as Link of Ordon--said he was going to take him to Hyrule Castle Town in Lanaryu Province. Link (of Skyloft) did not know what a Hyrule Castle Town was. He did know what a Lanaryu Province was, or at least just a Lanaryu, and had used that to build certain expectations.

This hilly green landscape defies his expectations.

"Um...are you sure we're in the right place?" he asks Link of Ordon, looking around at the Not Desert.

"I can see if I can..." He laughs. 'Arrange something', right. "Whenever we have time. We can go to Skyloft."

"Alright!" And for once, at least for the first time since Skyloft saw him, he actually looks like a normal teenager getting excited about something instead of a kind of stern Adult with Responsibilities or whatever.

It's probably the Remlits.

He gives Ordon a sidelong look. "You might want to wear another hat, though. When we go to Skyloft. You'd look too much like a knight."

That...does kinda make sense, and he wouldn't confuse any of Skyloft's friends. Maybe he could even find his regular clothes. But, uh...

"...Just the hat?" Because.

And Skyloft has obviously noticed this but.

The rest of what they're wearing now looks really similar too.

Yeah but it looks so run down and ragged and also he's got extra crap on him that Skyloft doesn't have. The gauntlet in particular.

"Well, you can wear your normal clothes if you want, but...it's colder up there than it is down here."

"Ohhh." Yeah what he normally wore probably wouldn't fare too well, huh? "Yeah, these'll be fine." While the lull in the conversation starts, Ordon starts to think about what Skyloft is going to say at the bar.

"So...what're you gonna say if everyone in there asks about you?" For one, the "we're related" thing might not be a good idea, since Rusl might be in there and, well...

"Uh."

Uh.

"...what do you suggest?"

"...Hmm." Thank the gods he asked before they actually went in.

"Not related. Rusl might be there and..." Um. "...He'd know about any blood relatives I'd have, put it that way." Which is to say, absolutely nobody that he'd know of.

"I guess we can't tell them the truth, either..."

He's just plain stumped for a solution.

And definitely no mentioning Skyloft around Shad.

"Could just say that you're a swordsman passing through here and we're friends." Which...isn't lying, technically.

"...If they ask about the looks, I'd just say play it off as a coincidence." Yes because that'll totally work.

"Like that would work," he mutters under his breath.

Hey, he heard that.

"Got a better idea?"

"No," he says honestly.

"Then it'll have to do for now." Who knows, maybe they became friends so fast because they looked so similar! Rusl and Telma miiiight buy that weird coincidence sort of story.

Probably not Shad, since he'd had to have heard about the different heroes all named Link that save Hyrule's ass time and again, being a historian and all, but Ordon obviously doesn't realize or know this, whoops!

Skyloft has a bad feeling about this...

"Are we here?" he asks, looking at the LONE DOOR in the little enclave they've found themselves in.

The enclave where there's not many people at all and it seems to pretty much be ignored, yes.

Told you it'd be pretty quiet.

"Yeah, c'mon!" And he casually walks over and opens the door, as if the next few moments aren't going to be totally awkward for everyone involved.

This is a moment worthy of a Link Entering a Dungeon cinematic, complete with random gusts of wind from nowhere, and ending with Link making a Resolved and Determined Face, as this is his destiny!!!!

But as it stands he just looks kinda nervous as he follows Ordon into the bar.

It's...also kind of empty, except for what looks like a back room, a lady at the actual bar part, and oh holy hell look at that big fluffy cat near one of the tables.

WELL HELLO THERE MS. CAT!

Being a thing Link stores in the back of his mind for later. Perhaps after the awkward introductions have passed and he can escape in a nice, cozy corner with Ms. Cat.

For her part, "Ms. Cat" just glances at the two of them with what looks like a look of casual disinterest, but then, that's the default expression for cats, seems like.

Oddly, Ordon isn't picking her up, he just nods at her and she meows back, which makes the lady at the bar look up at notice them, smiling at first.

"Ahh, hey Link-" And then she notices the Link who isn't Ordon and the smile drops a bit, because really, it's like there's another, shorter Link here. Related? ...No, Rusl would have mentioned that already. And with kind of the same get-up...ah, okay. Telma raises her eyebrow at the other one and looks amused again.

"Fan of yours?"

...And now it's Ordon's turn to look confused. Um.

Link's eyes do the sloooow turn of someone considering--

"Yeah! I'm a huge fan!"

Oh man, this is actually a really good idea?? He'll have to try this whenever they can go to Skyloft, but anyway, just play along...

"Yeah, I was kinda surprised when I saw him in town, but he's a pretty cool guy." He said as if this totally wasn't a big deal and he's being super humble about it. Telma just snickers.

"Well, that'll happen..." And then she looks back at Skyloft, holding out her hand. "Pleasure to meet you, then. I'm Telma, this is my bar..." A pause...

"What's your name, then?"

Well, can't say Link, can he?

Uh

Uh

Uhhh

"Quailiss!"

Yes, but at least it's not a weird one like "Link". But still, Ordon just looks at him like "really?" before going along with it.

"...Yeah, Quailiss."

Meanwhile, Telma just looks between the two of them before shrugging it off. "Well, feel free to make yourself at home. ...To a point, anyway."

Yeah he's nooooot officially part of the group, so no just hanging out and not buying anything.

Like this is still a business, come on.

"Thank you, Miss Telma," he says. "Is there a menu anywhere?"

See he's already being nice and sociable and a good consumer!
