Link Visiting Places: SKY WORL EDITION

Link had left the bar to make some arrangements--namely, making sure that the door lead him to Skyloft, rather than the Lanayru Caves--or the Lanayru Gorge. Wouldn't that have been confusing to the old dragon, walking out with another human?

Not that the people of Skyloft wouldn't be any less confused by the Link. Skyloft was a pretty tight-knit community for such a large island, and it'd be hard, explaining the other boy in a convincing fashion. He's hoping he can explain it away by saying he's a fan from one of the outlying islands. But he has his doubts about that...

Doubts he will set aside for the time being. It's time to wake the other boy up!

So he's knock, knock, knocking on his door.

"Hey, Link? It's me...Link!"

"Yeah!" Okay, he just has to jump off again, right? Easy!

Thankfully, since they're close to land, Link isn't screaming his head off from a huge fall, and he lands just fine!

Thank goodness. Kina is over there by the pumpkin patch, throwing a wave to her sometimes-coworker, sometimes co-musician. Link can't imagine what her response would be hearing that other boy's scream.

"Welcome to the Lumpy Pumpkin," he says, feeling no need to point out the pumpkin-shaped and colored building behind him.

He nods, looking around a little.

"...What is it?" Aside from the...name of a building.

"It's a bar! C'mon, I'll show you inside."

He grabs Link by the hand, pulling him towards the door, and inside once the door is open. He squints up at the chandelier once they're in the central room. No matter what Pumm says, that thing is excessively gaudy.

...A bar? Wasn't that a-oops, too late, he's already going inside.

If he acts cool, maybe they'll let him stay.

Nobody seems to pay him any mind.

Only one of the men sitting at the large table underneath the chandelier gives him a look, and even then he resumes glowering at the table's surface. Pumm is, as always, busy behind the counter, cooking, cleaning, humming to himself.

"Are you thirsty? We can get something to drink here."

"Do they have milk?"

...N-No, dear.

[sky_child]

"...no."

[ocarina_of_rhyme]

Darn. :(

"Hmm. I-I'm okay with trying other stuff."

[sky_child]

"Alright. See those steps over there? If you go up to the second floor, there should be tables...I'll meet you up there, okay?"

[ocarina_of_rhyme]

"Okay..." Well, might as well go upstairs.

He barrels up the stairs, which is cute when a nine-year-old does it, but a little odd coming from a 16-year-old. Ehhh well, might want to bring it up just in case, but it's not hurting anyone, right?

Link can hear that noise very well--but he's relieved to see that only Keet noticed, and that Keet, as always, resumes contemplating the table.

Moments later, he arrives at the table upstairs with two large mugs of...orange liquid?

"It's pumpkin juice!" he says cheerfully, setting mug before the other boy.

He stares at the pumpkin juice for awhile, like he's contemplating any deep mysteries it possesses. He's heard about pumpkins before, but he could never get a hold of any...

He takes a sip...and then a gulp...and another and another and...

As expected!

"You really like our food, huh."

[ocarina_of_rhyme]

Dear, he likes all food okay.

He nods after putting the mug down and wiping his mouth, and the only reason he put it down is because he has to talk now.

"Mmhmmn. I grow and find my own stuff but I don't know how to make that other stuff." He then stares at his mug.

"You should try some milk if you get the chance, I should take you to Malon's ranch, everything's back to normal over there now."

"That'd be nice," he says. He props an arm up on the table, head leaning against his hand as he smiles faintly.

He finishes his mug and then stares at the other Link, who's smiling off into space.

"...Are you feeling better?"

[sky_child]

"...huh?"

He seems genuinely confused.

[ocarina_of_rhyme]

"Uh...from before. You look less sad. That's good, if you're feeling better now."

[sky_child]

"Oh...yeah."

The wonders a good distraction will do for a person. Or spending time with a friend. If that's what he is.

Groose is his friend, as odd as it is to think of him as such, but he doesn't feel the same kind of...connection with Groose as he does with Link. He doesn't feel obligated to look after Groose's happiness and safety like he does with Link. It's something comparable to what he feels with Zelda, and yet somehow entirely different.

But he's got more pressing puzzles to solve than trying to name a feeling.

It could be because of the whole reincarnation thing, but no, that doesn't change that this Link is still a different person with a different life (a radically different life) than the one from Skyloft. Maybe it's because he hasn't "grown" yet entirely, at least compared to the teenager sitting across from him...

"...When I get back I'm going to fix everything so you can come visit. It's not in the sky but it's still really nice."

"I believe you. I like visiting the surface. It's dangerous--at least, it is here, but it's also kind of...beautiful."

He smiles a little, thinking about how he could possibly take him to see his home.

"I wish I could take you to where I live, but...maybe if I'm with you, it'll be okay."

Like as a guide or something. He can do that!

"In your forest? Why's that?"

It's not like he'd make an awfully good body guard against a bunch of children.

"I don't know if you'd be able to get in...hmm, maybe I can make that door thing open to my house."

There's an idea, yeah...
